"its the social aspect of street food that makes it so popular" Says Emma Garrett, Founder of Gin Tin Bar, another just-launched horse box business. "everyone is just hanging out together"

A fan of mobile bars, having hired one for her outdoor wedding reception, Garrett was inspired during a honeymoon walk along the cliffs at Christchurch. "we saw this beach bar created from a horse trailer and that was it: I had to do it....."

With two horses of her own, Garrett found a 1980s horse box for sale at a local yard. Its now a Chic Gin Den specialising in local spirits, from Winchester's Twisted Nose and Bombay Sapphire to Langley's No 8.

Retaining some of the boxes horsey elements, including the tie rings on the walls, Garrett has also hung a horseshoe, found in her back garden, over the hatch.

"It does not surprise me that the horse boxes are proving so popular for food and drink businesses" adds Garrett. "Their compact, their mobile and they look great - intact they are perfect".
